I never know what I think about something until I read what I’ve written on it.
You’ll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living breathing screaming invitation to believe better things.

Do not fear the one who destroys the body. Fear the one who destroys the mind, the will power, the need for improvement and success. Fear the one who teaches complacency, for in this world, peace will only be brought forth by a solid effort to understand those around you.
The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge.
All endeavors start with a single action.
It is your decisions that define you, not simply your presence in those events.

If you want to write, don’t err by setting the bar too low. Maybe you want to write like Emily Dickinson. Maybe you want to write like Nabokov. Just be willing, at the end of the day, to look at your work and say, ‘That’s not as good as Nabokov, but boy, it’s as good as I could make it today.’ Fall in love with books and with modes of being. No. The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it’s a world, or a relationship… Everything has its time. And everything ends.
I think it’s really tragic when people get serious about stuff. It’s such an absurdity to take anything really seriously. I make an honest attempt not to take anything seriously: I worked that attitude out about the time I was eighteen, I mean, what does it all mean when you get right down to it, what’s the story here? Being alive is so weird.
Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don’t.

Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.
Never fear quarrels, but seek hazardous adventures.
